PCaAware - National Prostate Cancer Awareness Foundation
PCaAware takes a laser focus on making men aware of the critical preventative steps needed to protect themselves, families and employers from the potential financial and emotional impact of prostate cancer. The National Prostate Cancer Awareness Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness about prostate cancer and providing resources for patients and their families. They focus on educating men aged 40+ about the risks and impacts of prostate cancer. The Foundation is a speaker’s bureau whose mission is to educate men and women on the need for all men to protect themselves and their families against a silent killer that often shows no signs until it is too late. Additionally, Mark E. Lownik has spent nearly 20 years working closely with Fortune 500 companies to connect people and product through compelling content and technology, focusing on raising cancer awareness through nutrition and education. PCaAware was formed to fill the serious void that exists in the men’s health arena. Just 47% of American males 40+ are aware of the critical need for annual prostate examinations. PCaAware has a single goal – Raise the level of men’s awareness surrounding prostate health to 75% while reversing the way men view the need to routinely visit health care professionals. Prostate cancer is one of the most asymptomatic diseases and impacts 250,000 men annually. Over 30,000 men die needlessly simply because they were diagnosed too late. PCaAware organizes and sponsors workshops, public seminars, and health fairs where men can receive information and free medical screening and testing. PCaSpeaks is a speakers bureau that passionately believes the time has come to make the fight against prostate cancer more compelling by personalizing the message to men at their place of employment and in other settings where men gather. Our professional, paid speakers range from survivors who share their personal struggles with this disease to medical experts and researchers who are able to discuss procedures and treatments in laymen’s terms. We believe that face-to-face communication, combined with the opportunity for men to engage with relevant issues and information online, is another key to the successful dissemination of critical health related information to not only men but also to the women in their lives. Men are seeking easily implementable ideas that can be processed and absorbed quickly. To fulfill that unmet demand, we believe an innovative, nationwide and engaging approach to educate men about prostate cancer is desperately needed.
