
AGORA Platform
AGORA is a federation of non-profit patient associations focused on rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases in Southern Europe. It promotes coordination, research including clinical trials, advocacy, and representation at national and European levels. The federation collaborates with scientific institutions and sponsors from private initiatives for social research and funding. It engages in policy interventions at legislative and judicial bodies and organizes educational and advocacy activities. Agora Platform is an organization focused on rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs) in Southern Europe. It aims to improve knowledge among health professionals, governmental bodies, and the public; encourage and undertake research including clinical trials; foster innovation in education and research to improve treatment and patient care; and promote advocacy and a common agenda for people with RMDs in Southern Europe. The organization supports the foundation and development of user-led organizations for people with RMDs, provides a stronger voice at national and European levels, and promotes supportive attitudes to enable patient independence and full societal participation. AGORA is governed by a voluntary Board elected by member organizations. Board members have affiliations with various rheumatism and patient advocacy organizations across Europe, including Cyprus League Against Rheumatism, Bulgarian Organisation for People with Rheumatic Diseases, Arthritis and Rheumatism Association Malta, Portuguese League Against Rheumatic Diseases, Sjögren Europe, and Hellenic League Against Rheumatism. Several members are involved in policy advocacy, patient research partnerships, and scientific committees such as EULAR and FOREUM. Our Mission
To promote, rally, and coordinate actions for the health and support of people with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases, including advocacy, education, research, and representation at European and national levels. Assist in improving the knowledge of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases among members of the health, welfare and medical professions, governmental bodies and the general public. Encourage and undertake research projects including surveys and clinical trials related to rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases and dissemination of the results of any such research. Foster innovation and excellence in education and research with the aim to improve treatment and patient care. Collect and distribute information on all aspects of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases, both in the medical and sociological areas of the disease. Establish and promote a common agenda for health and advocacy for people with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases in Southern Europe.
